Privacy notice
Last updated 13 October 2026 (replay clips added). This is written in plain language; it describes what the DartFeed app actually does today.
Who is responsible
DartFeed is a small hobby project run by its developer, who decides what personal data is collected and why (the “controller”). Contact for anything in this notice: [email protected].
The short version
- Your camera picture of the dartboard is worked on inside your phone or computer. It is not uploaded unless you press the export button yourself (or you have a developer account and game recording is on).
- There is no advertising, no analytics and no tracking cookies. Nothing is sold or shared for marketing.
- You can download everything we hold about you, change your email, password, nickname, picture and country, and erase your account and data yourself, in Profile.
What is kept, and why
| Data | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Account: username, a salted hash of your password (never the password itself), optional email address, the date you joined, the time you accepted this notice, your sign-in sessions | To let you sign in and to run the app (contract / providing the service) | Until you erase the account. A sign-in lasts 30 days and ends sooner if you log out or are inactive for 24 hours. |
| Stats and friends: games played / won, darts, score, best checkout, best leg; your friend list and requests (the other person’s username) | Your statistics page and playing friends | Until you erase the account or remove the friend |
| Game history: each finished game (date, local or online, opponent’s name, score, darts, checkout, 180 / 140+ / 100+ counts) | History and statistics screens | Your newest 500 games, until you erase your data. If you erase yours, your name is removed from the opponent’s copy too. |
| Profile (optional): nickname, country, a small picture | Shown to you and to your friends in games | Until you remove it or erase your data |
| Account type: Basic, Pro, Developer or Admin, with the first / last time you were seen and an optional note by the administrator | To decide what you can use (for example online play) | Until you erase your data |
| Exports you choose to send (the robot button): a zip with a picture of the board and technical detection information. It can show darts, and possibly your hand or part of your room. | Testing and improving the dart-reading AI | Until you erase your data (or the developer deletes it). Only you decide to send one. |
| Dev-tester sign-up on the DartFeed website (name, email address, device type, an optional note) | To contact you about the iPhone app beta | Until you ask to be removed (email the contact below) or the beta ends. Used only to email you about the beta. |
| Replay clips of your 180s and checkouts (Settings → Replays; you can switch it off) | So you can watch and keep your best throws | Stored only on your own phone (never uploaded). The newest 30 are kept; you can delete them, and erasing your account clears them. |
| Game recording (developer and admin accounts only): a log of a game with a few small pictures | Testing | As above |
| Technical report if the AI model cannot start on your device: browser / device type and the error, plus the country your connection comes from. No name or login. | Fixing devices the app does not work on | Until the developer deletes it |
Online games, video and voice
- To play a friend, the app connects your device to the DartFeed relay (it passes game messages and shows who is online to your friends).
- The live board video and, if you switch it on, your voice go directly between the players’ devices (WebRTC) and are not recorded or stored by DartFeed. To set up that direct link the app contacts a public STUN server run by Google, and the other player’s device can see your network (IP) address, as with any video call.
- Your microphone is off by default. It is only opened when you tap the voice button during an online game.
What stays on your own device
The app stores in your browser only what it needs to work: your sign-in, your role, your settings, board calibration, the game in progress, and the time you were last active (used for the 24-hour automatic sign-out). These are strictly necessary, so there is no cookie banner; there are no tracking or advertising cookies. Erasing your account in Profile also clears this on the device you use.
Who handles the data for us
DartFeed runs on Cloudflare (web hosting, servers, database and file storage). Cloudflare handles the data on our behalf, in its data centres, which may be outside your country. Nothing else receives your data.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, erase, restrict or move your data, and you can object to how it is used. Most of this you can do yourself in Profile: Download my data (a file with everything held about you), change your email, password, nickname, picture and country, and Delete my account and data (permanent). For anything else, use the contact above. If you are unhappy with how your data is handled you can complain to the data-protection authority in your country (in the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office, ico.org.uk).
Children
DartFeed is not meant for children under 13 and should not be used to collect their data.
